What is a Controlled Parking Zone? &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

A Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) is an area where all of the kerbside space is managed by way of yellow lines and/or parking places. 

Do I need a permit to park? 

Parking controls will only take effect after work is complete across any new zone. We will send out details of when and how to apply for a permit when work nears completion. For further information, you can visit our permit parking page.

Will I need to pay to park? 

Parking charges will only be introduced after the work is complete. We will contact residents and businesses when work nears completion with everything they need to know.

I have a blue badge, how might a new CPZ affect me? &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

Blue badge holders who live in a CPZ and own a vehicle are entitled to a free permit. They are also entitled to additional visitor permits at a reduced rate. Blue badge holders can park without limit of time and without payment in pay-and-display bays and shared-use bays. The allowance to park on certain yellow lines will still apply. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

How does a Permit Parking Area work? 

Only residents of a certain road (or roads) may park in a Permit Parking Area (PPA). Whilst there are no road markings, signs will show that parking is permitted only by specific permit holders. Residents who hold a PPA permit may park elsewhere in the wider zone, however, only those with a specific PPA permit may park within it.

What are the benefits of a CPZ? &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

Parking controls manage who can park and, depending on the type of user, how long they can park for. Long stay parking by non-residents is discouraged, leaving more space for residents and their visitors. Maximum lengths of stay create a turnover of parking that benefits businesses, improving accessibility for customers. 

Where will I park during any works? 

We will work street by street, across different parts of the new zones so you will be able to park in neighbouring streets. 

Why do we need new lines and signs? 

To make sure that we can effectively manage parking, we do need to introduce new signs and road markings. We will keep these to the minimum required. If possible, we will attach signs to existing buildings and railings. We will contact residents or businesses to get permission to do this.
