Weekly Traffic Management

Please find below a summary of additional traffic management arrangements to accommodate site investigations works and utility diversions outside the main area of works.

Leith Walk

Foot of the Walk to Pilrig Street - Road Closure 

A section of the Leith Walk running lane (Foot of the Walk to Pilrig Street) will be closed on Wednesday 18 November between the hours of 7pm and 5am to enable Scottish Water to carry out urgent repair works. Localised diversions will be in place.

Manderston Street to Lorne Street - Road Closure

A section of the Leith Walk running lane (Manderston Street to Lorne Street) will be closed on Thursday 19 November between the hours of 7pm and 5am to enable Scottish Water to carry out urgent repair works. Localised diversions will be in place.


McDonald Road/Leith Walk junction - Road Closure - NOW REOPENED TO ONE-WAY TRAFFIC

McDonald Road will be opening up to one-way traffic from Wednesday 4 November.  The one lane will enable access from McDonald Road onto Leith Walk and Brunswick Street.

McDonald Road/Broughton Road junction - Changes to Traffic Management Arrangements 

We will be installing a set of 3 way lights at the McDonald Road/Broughton Road junction, creating 2 extra pedestrian crossings. This will also be implemented on Thursday 4 November.

Shrub Place - Pedestrian Walkway 

Changes have been implemented to the pedestrian walkway in the Shrubhill area on the west side of Leith Walk. Please be aware of the new arrangements and note pedestrian access will be maintained. Access to and from properties of the Engine Yard developments underground carpark area will be maintained by the installation of a prioritised running lane between the carpark entrance and Shrub Place. This running lane will be clearly marked, whilst being segregated from both pedestrians and the adjacent cycle lane.

Iona Street - Temporary Road Closure - NOW REOPENED

Access to Leith Walk from Iona Street will be closed from Monday 9 November. Expected duration of this closure is 2 weeks. Localised Diversions will be in place and access is via Dalmeny Street.

Jane Street and Arthur Street - Fence Line Adjustments on Footpath and Cycle Way

There will be minor adjustments to the fence line on Leith Walk at Jane Street and Arthur Street from Monday 16 November for 6 and 2 weeks respectively.  This is to accommodate utility works on the footpath.


Jane Street at Jane Street Industrial Estate - Temporary Road Closure 

We will be carrying out utility diversion works on Jane Street in the Industrial Estate from Monday 23 November for approx. 6 weeks. Localised diversion and parking restrictions will be in place with access to businesses being maintained at all times.

Foot of the Walk - Newhaven

Constitution Street access to Tower Street Industrial Estate - Road Closure 

We will be carrying out road resurfacing works on the running lane at Tower Street Industrial Estate. To minimise the impact to the businesses in this area these works will be completed on Sunday 22 November. Works are expected to take approximately 3-4hrs and will commence at 12 midday. The access road to Tower Street Industrial Estate will be closed until approximately 7pm to allow the tar to cure.

FOTW – Laurie Street

Alternative footpath arrangements have been installed to accommodate works – pedestrian diversion signage is in place and access to properties will be maintained at all times.
