Pay awards

Learning and Teaching

National pay awards are negotiated between COSLA and Trades Unions on an annual basis. Pay awards are now applied from 1 August for Learning and Teaching colleagues. Where pay awards are agreed after this date the changes to pay will be backdated to 1 August.

2024 to 2025 pay award

The 2024-25 pay award for Learning and Teaching is currently being discussed at the national level. We’ll publish more information as it becomes available, so please check back regularly for any updates.

2023 to 2024 Pay award

Stage one of the pay award was effective from 1 April 2023 to 31 December 2023

  • Salary points below £80,000 increased by 5%
  • Salary points above £80,000 increased by £4,000

This element of the 2023 to 2024 pay award was paid to colleagues in scope on Thursday 27 April 2023 .

Stage two of the pay award was effective from 1 January 2024 to 31 July 2024

  • Salary points below £80,000 increased by 2%
  • Salary points above £80,000 increased by £1,600

This element of the 2023 to 2024 pay award was paid to colleagues in scope on Thursday 25 January 2024.

  • The salaries quoted are full-time equivalent salaries
  • Pay awards are pro-rated for those colleagues working on a part-time basis.
