Notification of Building Fixings Installation

Find out more about the building fixings installation.

As part of our construction, there are works required to install the overhead line equipment needed for the trams. This is the overhead wires and supporting infrastructure that carry electricity to power the trams which can either consist of poles (similar to lamp posts) or building fixings which are fixed to the exterior of buildings along the route.

The process to achieve the property owner consent to undertake these works was conducted during the period 2018 to 2019 and under the powers of the Tram (Line One) Act 2006.

In preparation for the installation of building fixings, Sacyr Farrans Neopul (SFN) will undertake external surveys to properties along the route to record the existing condition of properties prior to the commencement of the building fixing install. While we do not envisage any damage to properties resulting from the works, it is normal practice for a project of this nature that a means of identifying any issues is recorded.

Owners of properties to have a building fixing will receive direct communcations from the project prior to any surveys being undertaken.

When will the installation of Building Fixings commence?

The works are expected to commence Winter 2021/22.

All works will be carried out so as to minimise interference and inconvenience to the building owners and occupants. The below outlines the normal process to be employed.

  • A work platform (mobile or scaffold) is set up as well as any necessary traffic and pedestrian management measures
  • A power drill will be employed to drill a hole and install the fixing.
  • Following a suitable “curing” period for the resin anchor, the contractor will return to inspect and test the installation.
  • At a later date the OLE cables will be attached to the fixing.
