London Road Pillar Clock Refurbishment is Nearly Complete
Earlier this year we gave you an update on phase one of the London Road clock refurbishment works that are taking place as part of the project.Â
We’re happy to announce that specialist clock makers Smith of Derby have now completed their works, bringing the clock back to its former glory. This included hand painting of the pillar clock’s ornate features in gold leaf, applying a black gloss paint to all the decorative metal work and restoring the dials and hands with new glazing. The clock will soon be returned home to Edinburgh before all the elements get put back together ready for installation.
The clock will be reinstated into the new public realm alongside the Elm Row pigeon sculptures later this year.
