Getting Ready for the New Public Realm: Elm Row Bronze Pigeons Update

Watch as we speak to the people behind the Elm Row Bronze Pigeons as they go through their restoration process!

Say hello to our old friends the Elm Row Bronze Pigeons!

These pieces of public art were removed from the top of Leith Walk during tram construction back in 2006. As part of Trams to Newhaven works these sculptures will be reinstated into the new public realm.

Currently being refurbished to their former glory, City of Edinburgh Council archaeologist John Lawson speaks to orginial artist Shona and Kerry of Powderhall Bronze, the people behind the sculptures, as they explain their inspiration, how these amazing birds are created and the real reason these sculptures were placed in Elm Row in the first place!

We will be documenting the journey of these pigeons closely as they go through the refurbishment process, be sure to keep your eyes on our social media for further updates.
