Bookbug at Dr. Bell’s 

Bookbug offers the chance to visit Dr Bell’s centre, bond with your little one through songs and rhymes and enjoy a little story too! Sessions run on Fridays at 9.40 am for children aged 18 months to five years alongside their parent/carer and at 10.30 am for children aged nought to 18 months.

Book gifting in the community by Craigmillar books for babies

Craigmillar Books for Babies gift books at their events, at the local baby clinic, on home visits and as part of their literacy programmes. They also provide other resources including nursery rhyme booklets and cards, puppets and craft activities. For more information contact

Lego clubs

Lego clubs happen in some local libraries for children over five years of age, anyone under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. sessions run at -

Nature play 

These fun activities are run by Trees and Seas for children under five with their carers on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm. Sessions may include den building, storytelling, woodwork, bushcraft Skills, cooking or bug hunting. Sessions are free for families living in EH16 and EH17 postcodes, there is a charge of £5.00 for other families. Sessions run at:

These sessions are for families with a child 10 months plus and offer a chance to meet other parents and carers in a safe place, a chance to get support and advice and take part in a range of different activities.
