Information sharing for child wellbeing

We have a legal duty to promote, support and safeguard the wellbeing of children in our care.

We keep records when we think that a child could benefit from help in the school, in the community or from a professional. We will tell you if we are concerned about your child and talk to you about what support might help.

If it would be helpful to share information with someone else, we will discuss this with you and get your consent before we share it so that you know what is happening and why.

You can access information that is held about you or your child. Find out how to request your personal information.

Our responsibilities

We only record personal data when we need to. We store personal data securely and only those that need to access it can. If you have any questions about how we handle your personal data, contact your child’s head teacher or the named person involved with your child.

Children at risk of harm

The only time we do not seek consent to share information with another organisation is if we believe that a child may be at risk of harm. We have a duty to protect children, which means we do not need consent. We will tell you who we are sharing information with and why unless we believe that doing so may put the child at risk of harm.
