Ending the group
If your group decides to end, follow the below procedure to do it responsibly
- at least two-thirds of the members are in agreement to start the process to end the group
- plan an AGM and give 21 days notice to the remaining members to participate to it
- during the AGM discuss and vote on ending the group and on financial responsibilities. Keep minutes for future reference
- you must pay off any debts before distributing any leftover money
- vote on where the leftover moneys will go, for example, to a similar group or charity
- share a summery of the ending process and how funds were distributed
- inform all other interested parties on the agreement to end and how funds were allocated.
It's important to note that you must keep all records for a minimum of seven years after the group dissolves.
