Due to refurbishment of the heating and lighting systems, Wester Hailes Library will be closed for a period of around 10 weeks from 12 August 2024. During this period library groups and activities will be provided at alternative local venues, please see details below.
There will also be a small satellite service on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 10am to 1pm at South West Locality Office (10 Westside Plaza, building to the right of Jobcentre) for
- National Entitlement Card applications, replacements and renewals
- hearing aid battery collections
- access to free period products
- food waste bags.
Any updates regarding the work at the library or changes to the interim arrangements will be available on this page.
Sighthill Library is open as usual throughout this period for all other library services, including PC access, printing, and photocopying.
Sighthill Library opening hours are
Monday and Wednesday from 1 to 8pm
Tuesday and Friday from 10am to 5pm
Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Regular activities for children and young people
Bookbug
Wednesdays at 11am - stories, songs and rhymes for under 5s and their parents and carers.
Relocated to Clovenstone Community Centre, 54 Clovenstone Park, EH14 3EY, during temporary closure.
Mondays
1.30 to 4.30pm (except 12 August, 19 August and 9 September) - Lend and Mend drop-in for adults, and under 16s with a parent. Relocated to Sighthill Library during temporary closure.
Tuesdays
11am, Library Link (fortnightly) - service for those who are less able to get to the library on their own. Relocated to Sighthill Library during temporary closure.
Wednesdays
2 to 4pm, Knit and Natter (Fortnightly) – a cheerful and friendly group. Knitters and other handmade crafters of all abilities welcome to join us for tea, coffee and biscuits. Relocated to Sighthill Library during temporary closure.
