Ratho village has been served by the same size Doctors surgery for many years now. Over the past year a significant housing development of over 100 homes has increased the Ratho village population and with a further 112 homes planned the strain on the local services is becoming apparent. Ratho is made up of mostly young families and elderly, both which require a medical practice able to cope with the demand. The current practice is not able to deliver this both in size and staffing. Many patrons of Ratho cannot travel therefore rely on this one surgery. We must see this service improved and the council needs to act quickly to resolve this before the demand on the surgery increases and jeopardizes the safety and well being of the community.
